Kathryn Meyer received her Masters of Science in Social Work (MSW) from Columbia University School of Social Work in 1993. She has worked in the mental health field with families and children for over 15 years and in many different settings including: day treatment, residential treatment, therapeutic boarding school, community mental health, traditional school settings and in private practice.

Kathryn is skilled at helping families with teens who are struggling or in crisis. Her dynamic approach centers on developing positive family interactions, healthy communication between parents and children and trust within the family system. The goal of any family unit is to develop a successful functioning young adult who can excel in a variety of settings. Kathryn will collaborate with the parents, the student, the school and other professionals to create a support system that offers a consistent and coordinated treatment plan.

At times an out of home placement is indicated when a young person is not living up to his or her full potential and is engaging in at risk behaviors. Kathryn recognizes that this can be one of the hardest decisions a parent can make. She guides families every step of the way and develops a plan to have the child return home healthy and stable. She has developed positive and trusting relationships with numerous Licensed and Accredited Programs in Utah and through out the country. Kathryn can help families find the right placement fit for their struggling teen.

Placements might include:

• Therapeutic Boarding Schools
• Wilderness Programs
• Residential Treatment Programs
• Transitional Living Ages 18-25

Kathryn is a Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association and the National Association of Social Workers.
